Tight access to the property resulted in all materials being manually passed into the yard. This project has a phenomenal amount of detail packed into such a small space, lots of materials had to be pre-fabricated in the CLS factory, then transported to site for install due to space restraints.

The stoned pathways lined with plants creates connection between each area, flowing on from the seating areas to the outdoor shower nestled amongst the bamboo trees. Featuring its very own vegetable patch and rustic lightbox sculptures, this space certainly lights up at night.
From the rock waterfalls to the native plants, this garden exudes natural charm. This inviting bushland-style garden is a treat for the senses, from the alluring native plants to the weathered timber steppers and cascading rock waterfalls. This is a garden with a great natural flow, which is most evident in the meandering “river” which links two impressive waterfalls. To create the waterfalls, the granite rock was hand picked to get them into precisely the right position. A series of railway sleeper steps that wind their way down the hill, culminating in a sleeper boardwalk that crosses the river and delivers guests to the verandah.

The plants are all hardy natives, chosen to suit the various microclimates within the garden and create a true bushland feel. There are grass trees, used as feature plants, and kangaroo paws for a flourish of floral colour. You will also find a range of compact or low-growing plants including Acacia cognata ‘Dazzler’, Banksia ‘Birthday Candles’, lomandra, correa, dianella, blue fescue and native daisies. In one section of the garden, ferns rule the day: Blechnum ‘Silver Lady’ (a dwarf tree fern), Dicksonia antartica (a popular tree fern), and Asplenium nidus (bird’s nest fern).
Bringing the outside in is this beautiful contemporary home located in Hawthorn. The larger window panes showcase stunning views of the garden at all angles. Each walkway lit up with greenery, hedging and outdoor lighting, bringing the smallest of spaces to life. The Pistacia Chinensis tree creates a stunning feature of colour in the centred of the courtyard. A prominent feature viewed at multiple angles from both upstairs and downstairs view points. This renovated landscape incorporates the new with the old, creating unity between spaces through the design.
This unique landscape design combines the aesthetics of the building exterior to create a seamless journey into the outdoor space. With the monochromatic tones and natural stone work seen throughout the design. The floating steps take you through the garden, working with the natural slope of the property. While there was a high clay content and large excavation required, the results achieved the desired depth for concrete piers and blind path. The large rock formation not only displays as a prominent feature, but were strategically placed to assist with heights.
A stunning renovation of a mid-century home with the landscape to bolster the style of the house, highlighting the old with the new. Using the original stone from the house as steppers that meander through the garden to link various areas was a master stroke. This unique design and large variety of plants was a pleasure to build.
This inner city courtyard is framed full of lush greenery. Tall bamboo and leafy trees serve as both privacy and expand the space through this modern garden layout. The large plant allowance creates an instant garden with beautiful contrast against the stone and composite screening. While the landscape faced some challenges, thorough planning was required for the construction being situated over a basement carpark. The space is both versatile and practical for entertaining with an outdoor kitchen, bar fridge and table area. Coming to life at night with ample lighting and a fire place to enjoy the view from within.
This modern and contemporary design is situated on a large block located in Brighton. The landscaping brings the space to life through the vibrant colours of the garden beds contrasted against the muted monotones of the building and structures. While the site access and excavating had its challenges, the tiered backyard serves as a functional entertaining area as well as relaxing by the pool.
